I'm not exactly sure I get it. Is that a sun? A fiery comet? No, wait. It's coming to me. It's a hairball. Look at me figure that out, and I don't even have a cat!
An intricate hairball aimed right at Armin's forehead with the speed and precision of an infant's projectile vomit, except more prettier. I was wondering if we'd see any text this early on, something insulting or profane or disrespectful of Armin's mother, but I have to say that what she did here is far more satisfying than that. She greeted him, called him by name, lured him in by his teeth. It reads like a note between two friends scribbled on an Etch-a-Sketch, except we know she means it not as a cheery hello, but more of a taunt, a generous warning to reach for the baby wipes because this game is personal.
Armin, I've got a few of those in my purse if you need any, they're in there right next to my pocket copy of The Feminine Mystique.
