We're off and backhanding, as we say in the tennis commentating game. The canines and claws are sharpened and we're in for a salivating good afternoon of bark and meow. This first volley by Aaron Draplin (or Drap as we call him on the court) proves he is a strong and audiacious competitor. His economical drawing, in the manner of the late 19th century Beggarstaff Brothers (look it up in Meggs!!), challenges his similarly worthy opponent, David Nakamoto (David Nakamoto as he's known to the tennis establishment, but everybody knows him as David) to reject cliched Photoshop filters. Drap has cuningly thrown down a gauntlet that says, "I want this to look like I hand made it." Ah yes, fingers, the original digital medium. How will David answer this audacious challenge? Only time, in fact, fifteen minutes, will tell...
