In the game of Layer Tennis, like the game of life (like the game of scrabble, etc.), skill is the most important virtue. But then again so is heart (now I see Drap's symbolism come to the fore). David showed how he used his heart, in conjunction with his mind, to turn the game around from his misstep in the early volley. He made a remarkable comeback and deserves a hearty round of approbation.
David's final shot is a round up of all our wonderful memories of this match. Bravo!
As I sit here pondering the past three hours, trying to determine what I've learned that will stick with me for the rest of my life, I realize that creativity is at the center of life's best virtues. And as I look at this final piece, I realize that computer or not, art is great.
So, now its time for all of you in the audience to turn to the Layer Tennis Forums. Please vote for your favorite competitor. Don't let me influence the decision (nothing I said about Mr. Draplin should cause him to forfeit a few points). Vote on!!!!
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Steven Heller.
