OK forget all that nonsense I spouted about the Civil War. We put these two guys in a room and they're all about holding hands and collaborating. A gradual evolution from one volley to the next, adjusting the focus here, adding a color there. I get the feeling they've joined forces to fight us, the innocent viewer, and I mean we're just here trying to appreciate some goddamn art and feel all self-important and we don't need this in-our-face sensory assault because I mean god we can get that at home.
That being said, after watching this loop for a good 10 minutes, I do feel like I finally understand the end of 2001. The baby is Jesus, right? And the monolith is its interstellar stroller. And the nice room that Keir Dullea wakes up is probably that refurbished Red Roof Inn out on Route 6.
