Is “Brookly” an adverb?

One sort of neat thing about this match is that aside from the several countries represented, we've got a few “two-fers,” ex-pats that lend the game further international flavor by virtue of being from somewhere else. Armin Vit lives and works in New York, but he's originally from Mexico City.

I read Armin's writing frequently, and you should too, but I haven't seen a great deal of his visual work, aside from his match against Marian Bantjes last season. Both parties performed impeccably, but Bantjes was given the nod. So surely Vit is out for blood here to avenge his loss. Because he seems like a totally vindictive dude. Can you tell I'm padding this out before I see his volley? The writer becomes the written… um… about.

Well, here's the volley, and it's a stunner. Armin kept a bit of Scott's art, added a bit of his own, and purged a bit. That's how it's done, folks, and it's done well here. He lived up to my prediction by bringing a little NYC (Gotham!?) to the match, AND a little Mexico City, with a nod to Massimo Vignelli and Milton Glaser. Just what we'd expect from Armin, simplicity and history without being predictable, and a well-done return volley. Heads, up Montreal!

Is "Zilch" a running theme yet? some Declan McManus for ya.
