From Dream to Nightmare

Ladies and Gentlemen, today’s clash of the industry titans is finally here, and it’s live. Thanks Adobe and Coudal Partners for bringing us all together, because today we’re in for a fun ride.

Right before today's match started, Brendan Dawes mentioned that a few weeks ago he awoke from a dream where he was battling Joshua Davis in Layer Tennis and thanks to that dream we've gotten to today's Mega Match reality.

From the crack of the starter pistol, it's clear Joshua Davis came to play. The first lob is a doozy, a Day of the Dead-based piece that takes the theme to an ominous and colorful place.

Like the rich past the imagery is based on, the color palette is rich and vibrant and features beautiful images that will look great from lob to lob as we go on. The tagline "dawes of the dead" is the kind of subtle smack talk common to Layer Tennis matches and is not only greatly welcomed but downright encouraged.

It's an impressive opening serve and we're out of the gate like a dragster for today's match. I'm not going to say anyone is already behind and digging themselves out of a hole, but Mr. Dawes certainly just got one hell of a wake up call.

Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Matt Haughey.
