What if Kraftwerk and Slayer got together and got hold of Photoshop? Oh, my.
Technically, this is our first Canadian Doubles match, and it may seem unfair to pit Dimo Trifonov and Nikolay Vanchev of Bulgarian studio Nufabric against a single opponent, but Nufabric just seems like one of those inseparable menschmachines like Devo or Kraftwerk, more than the sum of their parts, so we'll count them as one person for today. The Nufabs are interested in experimentation and taking design in new directions away from a purely commercial or decorative function. Their work combines typography, photography, and illustration in such a way they become hard to tell apart.
Court Bryan is an artist and printmaker working as a graphic designer at West Texas A&M University until she heads to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in the fall for an MFA. Her work usually involves vintage photographs and ink, distorted to tell her own stories. Her style might be derived from her favorite metal bands like Killswitch Engage, Machinehead, Lamb of God and Slayer. She says "for some reason the heavy guitar in this music relaxes me!" You don't need to tell us, Court, we fell asleep once listening to Einsturzende Neubauten, and we listen to Boris and Mastodon on our commute to keep calm in traffic.
